For this project our survey team carried out a hourly survey of all teaching spaces, Monday-Saturday, 09-18:00 over a 1 week period. We managed all aspects of this survey; planning the survey routes, providing & managing the survey staff, collecting all occupancy data and providing the survey data within 2 working days of survey completion. All data was analysed (and compared against the timetable data) and presented within a detailed consultancy report.

Education Space Consultancy is delighted to announce that it will carrying out a teaching space, office, and meeting room survey & analysis project for one of our newest clients, Plymouth Marjon University. This survey will involve the collection of frequency and occupancy data on an hourly basis, Monday-Friday, 08:00-18:00, followed by the production of a detailed consultancy report. This data will be collected from teaching spaces, a s well a selection of the University’s office and meeting spaces. The resulting report will allow Education Space Consultancy to draw upon its wider expertise in the sector, analysing the use of the University’s teaching, meeting, and office spaces in order to provide a series of action-focused conclusions and recommendations for improving the efficiency of use for the University’s teaching, office, and meeting spaces. 

This survey will involve the collection of frequency and occupancy data on an hourly basis, Monday-Friday, 09:00-18:00, followed by the production of a detailed consultancy report. This will be the sixth space utilisation survey and reporting project we have provided for the University of Winchester. 

Education Space Consultancy are pleased to announce that we have been awarded a Teaching Space Utilisation Survey & Reporting with Queen Mary University of London. This is the second consecutive year in which we have provided the University with our survey and reporting service, following on from the Semester 1 2017/18 and Semester 1 2018/19 teaching and office space utilisation survey and reporting. This semester’s survey will include the collection of frequency and occupancy data once per hour for 1 week, Monday-Friday 09-18:00, for each of the University’s teaching spaces, across all 5 London-based campuses simultaneously. Upon survey completion we will also be providing a detailed consultancy report, that will include data analysis and recommendations focused on improving space and timetabling efficiencies. 

Education Space Consultancy is delighted to announce the successful completion of a third space utilisation survey project for Brunel University. This project included a one-week space utilisation survey, with frequency and occupancy data collected once per hour, Monday-Friday 09-19:00. Following the results from the survey, Education Space Consultancy provided a detailed consultancy report that included action-focused conclusions and recommendations resulting from the in-depth comparison and analysis of the survey and timetable data. 

We are delighted to announce that 2018/19 Semester 1 has seen Education Space Consultancy successfully carried out its sixth Teaching Space Utilisation Survey for London Business School. This survey included the collecting of room frequency and occupancy data twice per hour during the 1-week survey, throughout all half-hourly timeslots between 08:00 and 22:00. The resulting consultancy report contained in-depth analyses of the survey and timetable data, as well as a focused and separate analysis provided for selected space types. This analysis also provided a historical comparison of results from previous surveys carried out by Education Space Consultancy, providing additional context and comparison figures for the University. 

Following the successful undertaking of the Semester 2 2017/18 space utilisation survey project, Education Space Consultancy are pleased to report the undertaking of a space utilisation project working with Birmingham City University. This Space Utilisation Survey was carried out in Semester 1 of the 2018/19 academic year over a period of one week. Frequency and occupancy data was collected once per hour during the survey hours of 09-17:00. Upon completion of the space utilisation survey, a detailed consultancy report was produced allowing Education Space Consultancy to draw upon our wide expertise to provide measured conclusions and actionable recommendations for the University. 

In a continuation of the work carried out by Education Space Consultancy during Semester 1 of the 2017/18 academic year, we have been awarded the 2018/19 Semester 1 teaching space utilisation survey project for the University of York. This survey will involve the collection of frequency and occupancy data once per hour, Monday-Friday 09-18:00. The conclusion of the project will result in the producing of a detailed consultancy report including conclusions and actionable recommendations based on thorough analysis of the survey and timetable data.

Following our completion of space utilisation surveys during both semesters of the University’s 2016/17 academic year and in Semester 1 of the 2017/18 academic year, Education Space Consultancy is delighted to announce that we will carry out and manage all aspects of Cardiff Metropolitan University’s 2018/19 Semester 1 space utilisation survey. In addition to recording the number of occupants in each teaching room on an hourly basis during the survey week of Monday-Friday 09-18:00, timetabled activities will also be checked in order to confirm whether the activity utilising each room aligns with the activity that has been booked into each space. Following the survey, Education Space Consultancy will provide the University with an in-depth Teaching Space Utilisation Consultancy Report that includes data analysis, conclusions and action-focused recommendations based on close analysis of both the survey and timetable data collected. 

Education Space Consultancy is delighted to announce our continued work with London South Bank University, in a project that allowed us to deliver our professional data collection and consultancy services in the fields of both space and office utilisation. The survey involved Education Space Consultancy carrying out a simultaneous teaching and office utilisation survey for the University over one week, 09-18:00 during Semester 1 of the 2018/19 academic year. 

Education Space Consultancy is pleased to note that we will again be carrying out a space utilisation survey project with the University of South Wales during this academic year, following on from a successful Space Utilisation Survey & Reporting project in Semester 2 of the 2017/18 Academic year. This survey will take place over one week, with teaching space frequency and occupancy data collected as well as a timetable check being conducted once per hour between 09-17:00. As with the previous survey Education carried out for the University, all results as well data analysis were presented to the client within 5 working days of project completion. 

We are pleased to announce that during Semester 1 2018/19 we will be carrying out a Teaching Space Utilisation Survey project for Manchester Metropolitan University Hospital, working directly with the Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. This will be the first survey we have carried out for the University, as well as being our first project working with the National Health Service. This survey will be carried out over a one-week period, with frequency and occupancy data collected once per hour, Monday-Friday, 09-17:00 for each teaching space. A detailed consultancy report will then be produced that analyses the survey and timetable data sets with view to producing a set of detailed, action-focused conclusions and recommendations. 

We are happy to announce that during Semester 1 2018/19 we will be carrying out a Teaching Space Utilisation Survey project for the University of Dundee. This will be the second survey we have carried out for University, following the successful completion of the Semester 1 2017/18 survey & reporting. This survey will be carried out over a one-week period, with frequency and occupancy data collected once per hour, Monday-Friday, 09-17:00 for each teaching space. A detailed consultancy report will then be produced, that analyses the survey and timetable data sets in order to produce a detailed action-focused conclusions and recommendations.

We are happy to announce that we have been awarded the Liverpool John Moores University’s, Teaching Space Utilisation Survey & Reporting project for this upcoming semester. This will be the second consecutive year we have worked with the University providing this survey and reporting service. This survey will be carried out over a one-week period, with frequency and occupancy data collected once per hour, Monday-Friday, 09-18:00 for each teaching space. A detailed consultancy report will then be produced, that analyses the survey and timetable data sets in order to produce a detailed action-focused conclusions and recommendations.

We are pleased to announce that Education Space Consultancy’s continued work with the University of Winchester, providing Teaching Space Utilisation Survey & Reporting service. This will be the fourth consecutive year we have worked with the University providing this service. This survey will involve the collection of frequency and occupancy data on an hourly basis, Monday-Friday, 09:00-18:00, followed by the production of a detailed consultancy report. This will be the fifth space utilisation survey and reporting project we have provided for the University of Winchester over the past 4 years. 

For this project our team carried out onsite stakeholder meetings with all departments that delivered teaching within the institution, collecting all teaching space demands for the current academic year. We then created a teaching space requirement comprehensive dataset, carrying out a modelling exercise in order to determine the ideal number, type and size spaces required given the institution’s demands/requirements. This information was used as a key resource for determining the teaching space requirements within a new building planned top be constructed on this site.

For this project our senior timetabling consultants carried out a Scientia Enterprise & S+ timetable scenario modelling exercise, in order to determine whether the current academic year’s timetable demand could be accommodated within the new estate. This included the removal of 10-15 general teaching spaces and the addition of a new general teaching space building.

For this project our senior timetabling consultants carried out a Scientia S+ timetable scenario modelling exercise, in order to determine whether the current academic year’s timetable demand could be accommodated within the available teaching spaces, given a 3-day timetable for all students.

For this project out senior consultant team carried out a comprehensive review of the College’s timetabling practices, policies, performance & objectives, then creating a timetable review document the provided the College with a strategy for improving timetabling performance, efficiency and outcomes.

We are very pleased to announce that as of the first week of July, we have commenced a Timetable Review project with a London bases HE institution. This project includes onsite key stakeholder group meetings with all departments that the timetabling processes and outcomes link with, as well as then a detailed Timetable Review consultancy report. This report will present the institution’s current timetabling timeline, processes and practices and then also offer strategic recommendations that focus on enabling the institution to improve timetable and space utilisation outcomes over future years. All findings and recommendations will then be presented by Education Space Consultancy to the University’s key stakeholder groups. 

Education Space Consultancy are very happy to announce that we have been awarded and will be beginning a Timetable Review project with a UK South West based HE & FE institution in September. This project will include onsite key stakeholder group meetings with all departments that the timetabling processes and outcomes link with, as well as then a detailed Timetable Review consultancy report. Education Space Consultancy are very pleased to announce that in July 2018 we were awarded the Teaching Space & Timetable Modelling Project with a UK South based HE institution. This project is set to start imminently and will include the timetabling of predicted demand within the planned teaching space provision in addition to the modelling of teaching space requirements and predicted room utilisation results, for a future academic year. All results will be presented within a detailed consultancy report, that includes extensive analysis and recommendations, that utilise our sector based timetabling and space management experience. In addition a timetable database will be provided to the client, that details the planned teaching spaces ability to accommodate the predicted timetable demand for a specific academic year. Finally, the timetable and reporting findings will then be presented by Education Space Consultancy to the University’s key stakeholders.

We are very pleased to announce that in February 2018 we were awarded the Teaching Space & Timetable Modelling Project with the University of Winchester. This project included the modelling of teaching space demand over the next 3 academic years, for all teaching spaces across both campuses. The project included onsite key stakeholder group meetings in order to determine future changes to timetable demand, in addition to detailed data modelling, analysis, reporting, recommendations and the presentation of findings.

All results were presented within a detailed consultancy report, that included extensive analysis and recommendations, that utilised our sector based timetabling and space management experience. These findings were then presented by Education Space Consultancy to the University’s key stakeholders.

This 2016/2017 Semester 2 survey involved the collection of frequency and occupancy data once per hour, Monday-Friday 09-17:00 from all teaching spaces across both campuses. Following the conclusion of the survey Education Space Consultancy provided the University with a detailed consultancy report, providing the University with a concise presentation of the collected and analysed data.

For this Teaching Space Utilisation Survey, we managed every aspect and provided London Business School with a professional surveying and data collection service that included the counting of participants in each teaching room in addition to a timetable check, once per hour, Monday – Friday 08-22:00. We also provided London Business School with a detailed Teaching Space Utilisation Consultancy Report, that includes data analysis, conclusions and action focused recommendations.

Education Space Consultancy are pleased to report the undertaking of a space and office utilisation project, working with Birmingham City University. This Space Utilisation Survey was carried out in Semester 2 of the 2017/18 academic year over a period of one week. This Semester 2 survey was conducted as per the Semester 1 survey, with frequency and occupancy data collected hourly over one week, Monday-Friday 09-18:00. Following the space utilisation survey, Education Space Consultancy provided the University with a detailed consultancy report combining the survey and timetable datasets, as well as drawing on comparisons between the two semesters in order to provide actionable recommendations on how to improve the utilisation of teaching space within the estate.

This survey was conducted across one week, continuing unaffected by the adverse weather conditions, with frequency and occupancy data collected once per hour, Monday-Friday, 09-18:00. A detailed Teaching Space Utilisation Survey consultancy report was then produced, combing the survey and timetable data sets in order to produce a detailed report containing action-focused conclusions and recommendations.

We are pleased to announce that we have carried out a Teaching Space Utilisation Survey for Stockport College during Term 2 of the 2017/18 academic year. This survey allowed us to apply our experience within the FE sector, with the collecting of room frequency and occupancy data once per hour between 09-17:00 for one week. In addition to the surveying of teaching space, the survey also included collecting hourly utilisation data for staff offices within the college. The resulting Space Utilisation Consultancy report offered useful observations and analysis of the institution’s teaching and office spaces with view to offering focused recommendations that can be acted on in the short to medium term, allowing the institution to further understand and improve the utilisation of its teaching and office spaces.

Education Space Consultancy are pleased to announce the completion of a meeting room utilisation survey project at the National Oceanography Centre. This project involved the collection of frequency and occupancy data once per hour during a one-week survey, between the hours of 09:00 and 18:00, for all meeting rooms and spaces specified in the planning stages of the project.

Education Space Consultancy is delighted to announce our work with London South Bank University, in a project that involved our professional data collection and consultancy services in the fields of both space and office utilisation. The survey involved Education Space Consultancy carrying out a simultaneous teaching and office utilisation survey for the University over one week, 09-18:00 during Semester 1 of the 2017/18 academic year. This project included data collection for all of the University’s teaching and office space on a once-per-hour basis, allowing us to combine and execute two aspects of the professional consultancy services that we provide. A sizeable and challenging project, our work with the London South Bank University allowed us to collect and present a rich dataset, facilitating our work in providing a detailed consultancy report for the central-London-based University, which analysed and provided actionable conclusions & recommendations for the teaching and office spaces within the University’s estate.

Education Space Consultancy are pleased to announce our work with Queen Mary University London, having been awarded and now having completed the the Teaching & Office Space Utilisation Survey project for the Russel-Group institution. We conducted this space utilisation survey during Semester 1 of the 2017/18 academic year, with frequency and occupancy data collected once per hour during the one-week survey, 09-18:00 for each of the University’s teaching and office spaces, across all 5 London based campus simultaneously. In addition to providing a detailed consultancy report following the survey, Education Space Consultancy also undertook an office-space capacity survey, utilising our expertise within the HE space management sector to provide the University with our detailed capacity-identification service, This involved the surveying and identification of the individual capacities of each specified room, allowing us to provide the University with an accurate set of capacities for all of the rooms specified within the planning stages.

Education Space Consultancy are delighted to announce continued space utilisation project services for the University of Southampton, with the carrying out of a Teaching Space Utilisation Survey project for Russel-Group university. This project involved the collection of frequency and occupancy data once per hour from each teaching space, Monday-Friday 09-18:00 for one week during 2017/18 Semester 1. As part of the detailed consultancy report provided at the end of the project, Education Space Consultancy produced a variety of focus points for the analysis and recommendations, incorporating the multitude of campuses and schools that form part of the Southampton teaching estate, including the National Oceanography Centre.

This survey included the collection of frequency and occupancy-data once per hour, Monday-Friday 09-17:00 over a two week period. This project allowed Education Space Consultancy to provide an in-depth consultancy report, drawing together analysis of the survey and timetable data in order to provide definitive and actionable recommendations for improving the utilisation of the teaching space within the University’s estate.

Education Space Consultancy are pleased to announce we have carried out a Teaching Space Utilisation Survey project for AECC University College during Semester 1 of the 2017/18 academic year. This survey included frequency and occupancy-data collection once per hour, Monday-Friday 09-17:00 for one week. This project culminated in Education Space Consultancy providing an in-depth consultancy report, drawing together analysis of the survey and timetable data in order to provide definitive and actionable recommendations for improving the utilisation of the teaching space within the institution.

For this project our team carried out a data collection exercise that included onsite stakeholder workshops, in order to determine how future planned curriculum changes would impact on the timetable demand for the next 3 academic years. We then carried out a data modelling exercise utilising this information and a timetable export, in order to calculate the University’s teaching space requirements for the next 3 academic years, comparing this against the planned provision of teaching spaces.

For this project our team created a working institution timetable for this international school, based on the predicted curriculum demands, student numbers, staff provision, room availability and timetable constraints. For this project we used Semestry’s TermTime timetabling software.

For this project out senior consultant team carried out a comprehensive review of the College’s timetabling practices, policies, performance & objectives, then creating a timetable review document the provided the University with a strategy for improving timetabling performance, efficiency and outcomes.

For this Teaching Space Utilisation Survey, we managed every aspect and provided London Business School with a professional surveying and data collection service that included the counting of participants in each teaching room in addition to a timetable check, once per hour, Monday – Friday 08-22:00. We also provided London Business School with a detailed Teaching Space Utilisation Consultancy Report, that includes data analysis, conclusions and action focused recommendations.

We are very happy to announce that for the second consecutive year we have been awarded and have completed a 3 week Teaching Space Utilisation Survey contract for the University of Brighton. We again managed every aspect of this Teaching Space Utilisation Survey and provided the University with a professional surveying and data collection service that included the counting of occupants in each teaching room across 5 sites, once per hour, Monday – Friday 09-17:00. We then also provided the University of Brighton with a detailed Teaching Space Utilisation Consultancy Report, that included data analysis, conclusions and action focused recommendations.

Following the success of the teaching space utilisation survey project we delivered for the University during the 2015/16 academic year, Education Space Consultancy is pleased to note the conducting and completion of a further teaching space utilisation survey project with the University of South Wales for Semester 1 of the 2016/17 academic year. This survey was carried out over one week, with teaching space frequency and occupancy data collected as well as a timetable check being conducted once per hour between 09-17:00.

This Timetabling Consultant has Scientia Syllabus +/Enterprise expertise and will work with the University’s timetabling team 2-3 days a week, assisting with day to day activities as well helping to roll over and create the next year’s timetable, as well as help on other projects where required.

For this project we will be working with the University to understand and model the future teaching space requirements, in order to inform the development of the University’s estate over the coming years. This will be presented in the form of a detailed consultancy report, including data analysis and recommendations that will focus on enabling the University to effectively utilise its future estate.

We are very happy to announce that we have been awarded the Cardiff Metropolitan University, Timetabling Procedures & Process Review contract that is due to commence imminently. For this project Ben Moreland, Director of Education Space Consultancy will carry out onsite meetings with all key stakeholder groups in order to determine the current timetable processes, procedures and solutions. This information will then be analysed and presented in the form of a detailed consultancy report, that will map out the current and recommended options for developing the University’s timetabling procedures & processes over the coming years, with the aim of improving the timetable experience.

This is an exciting project that will aid the planning and construction of the new £40 million state-of-the-art Collaborative Teaching Laboratory (CTL) to facilitate the teaching of science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) subjects at The University of Birmingham.
