Having recently completed a Teaching Space Modelling Project and Space Planning project for City of London School, Charles Griffiths has provided Education Space Consultancy with the following testimonial;
“The City of London School recently found itself with a growing pupil population and limited teaching space until new classrooms can be built. During this period the School’s option appeared to be to hire external office space, at great cost, to house extra pupils. However upon a recommendation, and during the Pandemic, we hired Ben Moreland who rapidly undertook a site survey and, after consultation with senior staff colleagues, found spaces within the School and ideas for remodelling our timetable to accommodate our extra pupils. These simple yet effective solutions have given us a short and medium term remedy to our overcrowding which we could not see ourselves, and the cost of the service has been greatly outweighed by the benefits we have gained. The report that Ben provided to us has given us a clear pathway to better utilise our space, which is appreciated by the School and its Board.
Ben is undoubtedly highly experienced in this field and brings a clarity and independence that is highly effective in reworking timetables and seeking out better space usage. He worked quickly and effectively with the School’s management team to ensure that the project was delivered on plan and to cost. We will no doubt consider bringing Ben Moreland back again in the future to review our longer term space plan requirements, when required.

After recently completing a Teaching & Office Space Utilisation Survey & Consultancy Report for Queen Mary University of London, Dan Wakelin has provided Education Space Consultancy with the following testimonial;
“ESC were engaged by Queen Mary University of London to undertake a space utilisation survey of all teaching spaces and all offices across our five central London campuses. The survey was completed without any problems and the report produced afterwards was incredibly informative and reinforced with data, some of the perceptions that we had about the varying levels of utilisation in different parts of our estate.
Jody (Survey Manager) in particular was excellent, ensuring that the survey happened seamlessly across the sites during the week long period. He made it very simple for me to continue with my day-to-day work whilst this significant operation was taking place. We are looking forward to working with ESC again in the next academic year, where, having found the data and analysis to be so invaluable, we have decided to run the survey in each of our two main teaching semesters.

Having recently completed Teaching & Office Space Utilisation Survey & Consultancy Report for London South Bank University, Simon Francis has provided Education Space Consultancy with the following testimonial;
“London South Bank University engaged ESC to undertake our annual space utilisation survey in October 2017. ESC planned and implemented the week long exercise and managed the survey from start to finish, causing no disruption to our operations and with the minimum of input from my already stretched team. The survey data was presented in a clear and concise fashion, with the associated reporting presented in a jargon free and easily readable format. Subsequently ESC have assisted with more detailed data analysis and the development of a presentation used to engage with our stakeholders in encouraging better use of space. ESC have also been engaged to review our timetabling activities in the context of improving space utilisation, providing a thorough and insightful report identifying a host of opportunities for us to explore. Overall ESC have provided a great service to us and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend their services.

“As part of the work to enhance the quality of Timetabling services to the University, ECS were invited to undertake a review of the current timetabling processes and procedures. The objective was to identify areas for improvement that would deliver timely and robust timetable data to serve a new Student Personalised Timetable service.
Ben Moreland led a comprehensive review, that involved meeting with all School and department stakeholders, which resulted in a clear set of recommendations. Clearly Ben has excellent knowledge and experience in this field. He was professional and very personable at all times during the study.

After recently completing the University of South Wales, Timetable Modelling project, Greg Kemp has provided Education Space Consultancy with the following testimonial;
“Having been impressed with the way Education Space Consultancy had undertaken space utilisation survey work for the University, ESC was engaged to provide a timetable modelling service which was required to test the provision of teaching accommodation for the courses that would be delivered at one of the University’s main campuses. The modelling work incorporated significant changes to the mix of courses that would be offered at this campus and took into account plans for major redevelopment of campus buildings and remodelled teaching accommodation.
Ben Moreland provided the timetable modelling service for ESC and worked closely with the University’s Estates and Timetabling departments to collate and refine the base information required for the model. The findings were brought together in a very useful report which included a set of practical recommendations designed to achieve the alignment of activities to rooms ahead of the new academic year.
I was very pleased with the standard of service offered by Education Space Consultancy and would not hesitate to use them again for space utilisation survey and timetabling modelling services.”

Having completed the 2015/16 Teaching Space Utilisation Survey & Consultancy Report for London Business School, Rodney Ardé has provided Education Space Consultancy with the following testimonial;
“London Business School engaged Ben and his Education Space Consultancy services for 2 week long space surveys over the last 2 academic years. Surveys were across an extended day concluding at 9:30PM Monday through Friday. The survey included all school bookable space used to support teaching and study activities. In the second survey we included library pod and open seating areas to gauge level of library space use. Ben and his team of surveyors conducted themselves with utmost professionalism and were able to conduct their rounds with minimal disruption to activities taking place in the survey spaces. Ben was on site throughout and it was very reassuring to know that he was on hand to deal with any issues that arose leaving my Space Management team to deal with the normal complexities associated with timetabling and managing room bookings.
Survey data was collated very quickly and Ben’s associated report detailing findings was informative and very useful in creating a high level executive summary to present to Senior and Executive Management groups. We required amendments to the initial report to ensure that particular emphasis was drawn to key spaces in the school and Ben was very flexible and quick to turn around these report amendments. I have no hesitation in recommending Education Space Consultancy for this type of work and will be using their services for repeat survey work over the coming academic year.

After successfully completing the University of the West of England, Office Utilisation Survey earlier this year Pete Sutherland has provided Education Space Consultancy with the following testimonial;
“University of the West of England engaged Education Space Consultancy to undertake an office occupancy study for three weeks to inform our Professional Services project. This was looking to identify opportunities to reduce the number of fixed desks in a future move, so involved auditing several buildings and approximately 450 staff.
Ben and his team were very professional in their approach and undertook the surveys with discretion, always remaining mindful and respectful of the occupants’ concerns. We were given regular updates informing us of progress and any issues encountered and the reports that were submitted at the end of the study were very detailed and produced very quickly. I would not hesitate to use Ben and his team again for a similar exercise or indeed for our annual teaching room surveys, as I am certain ESC would do an excellent job.
